I remember seeing Robert Calvert (who I preferred to Lemmy as a vocalist) playing a small solo gig in central London circa 1981. It was intimate and exciting. Just him, a backing track on a reel-to-reel and a Casio VL-1: this tiny little keyboard held in one hand that was just so cool I went out and bought myself one the same week. It showed me that you didn't need a whole load of gear, you just needed a bit of talent. Sadly I sold it but I still have an original Stylophone, oh yes.

Calvert was great. But grumpy Brock is the voice that makes my hair stand on end.
